about

ASIA - not particularly the first region that comes to one's mind when the subject of music is raised.
Contrary to this pre-conceived view, an underbelly of talented individuals from various parts of Indonesia, Phillipines, South Korea and Singapore has been brewing all this time, absorbing along their paths a vast array of musical influences and ideas. The idea of this compilation has been keeping us folks here at Darker Than Wax and GOODNWS on our toes, as days were spent strategizing the best way forward.

Some heavyweight names like Innobushu and Floydcheung have been enrolled for the cause, but standing equally impressive alongside them are rising gems like Rei and Midnight Runners from Jakarta, SimilarObjects and Obi.von from the Phillipines, Simo and Mood Schula from South Korea with a heavy dose of heritage beats, and not forgetting Singapore's very own Loki Laredo, whose recent Dustyhead Modulations ep on Darker Than Wax was featured in the online reviews of MIXMAG

In the end, Assembly Point speaks for itself, being nothing more than an honest endeavour to gather and present to a greater geography what moves us deep down in the belly. We do hope you enjoy this mini compilation and it certainly will not be the last one.

Do check out the GOODNWS crew from Jakarta. They are a dedicated music media platform with the purpose to spread the vast libraries of Soul, Jazz, Funk, Latin, Afro Beats, Boogie, Disco, Hip Hop and beyond. They also act as a music promoter with the intention to create a platform for local and regional talents.

It’s pretty pure and simple really. It's basically a statement. A statement on the pervasiveness of black music and the influence it has had on countless genres.
A statement that it’s all about bringing it into the future.
A statement that music should have depth.
Expression and uninhibited creativity is the key.
