Genre - House, Electronic

Nigel Geiger aka Nigel One is a dj/producer residing in the city of Kalamazoo Michigan. Interestingly, Kalamazoo is almost close to being the exact midway point between Chicago and Detroit, and is in fact a historical place for techno music.

Being involved in electronic music first as a fan in the mid 90s rave scene on the East Coast of the United States and collecting music gravitated Nigel towards Dj-ing, whilst experimenting with his own electronic music. His hiatus from Dj-ing to concentrate fully on production took an interesting turn, as close friendships were forged with cats like Austin Hill, owner of the now defunct Loungesport Recordings and Adam Thorme of the very influential Atlanta dj crew Earthtone Soundsystem. Possesing a knowledge of guitar and classical instruments, he started putting up his productions on Myspace, and not long after, formed the cult favourite Indigo Pyramid collective with eLan(modeselektor), Zeroh, Billion Dollar Quartet, 10thLetter and Henry From Outerspace(now known as Shlomo). So you can begin to see where this man's heritage is coming from.

For this particular release, we thought it would be interesting for Nigel to stray away from his well known path in beats and modern funk, and back into his roots in house music. The result is Michigan Nights, a 4 track Ep that is at once familiar and strangely unique at the same time. One thing's for sure - put this on any late night dancefloor, and you know you are in the right dimension.

Darker Than Wax Singapore

With Darker Than Wax, the music has been reduced to its most concentrated form.
It’s pretty pure and simple really. It's basically a statement. A statement on the pervasiveness of black music and the influence it has had on countless genres.
A statement that it’s all about bringing it into the future.
A statement that music should have depth.
Expression and uninhibited creativity is the key.
